Product Description
Once again, Pia has written a collection of songs that she performs with an air of such innocence that we cannot fail to be captured by them.  Backed by superb musicians, her choice shines like a corona of light emerging from the shadows.  The purity of her voice is magical, and the melodies echo out of enthralling arrangements where guitar, keyboards, flute and percussion all interweave.  You owe it to yourself to share in the beauty, joy and quality of this album.

For her musical artistry, originality and exquisite voice, Pia shines on this collection of songs reflecting her own sun worship. A refreshing young singer from the Vaishnava tradition, Pia's voice in these compositions varies from a breathy whisper to a passion powerful enough to blow any teen pop idol off stage. With superb backups by musicians such as Pete Booker and John Richardson, this recording is exceptional. The Opening song, "Beautiful" is a delicately intoned poem to Gaura, the golden-hued incarnation of Sri Krishna from whom the Vaishnava tradition took root. Pia then warms up the stage with "shyam" sung with ample chorus and a lively street beat. In "No Other Place" the musical line soars with her lilting - "Your silence invites us, no place that we'd rather be …" A rousing "Govindam", a well-known Hare Krishna chant, sung with lots of backups, is the only traditional chant included. "Eclipse", another high point, evokes her love affair with the sun. "Set me free, let me go/Watch me flying, see me smiling …" with the stirring refrain, "We belong to the stars… We belong to heaven .." The final cut, "Chasing the Sun", with its tribal rhythms and Pia's dynamic vocals, is a rousing climax for an inspired soul who yearns to rise higher and higher.

This is also my favourite album of Pia's- the words and melodies are so beautiful and express so many emotions. The songs range from the delicate and harmonius to the powerful and healing.
I would recommend this to people that don't usually go for new age 'singing' albums, but may want something a little more uplifting than your average relaxing CD. It may also be of interest if you like Deva Premal.

wonderful!
This album is absolutly my favourite one! I am very impressed with Pia's voice. I cannot imagine one day without listening to this album. Spcecially Govindam. I need to hear this song every day and even try to sing along the sanscreet words!
